Welcome to the PATH Wiki! What is it? Good question. We're still trying to figure that out, too. We think this will be a good way to get feedback on what you like about PATH, what we could improve about the program and a place where commuters can share ideas.
For example, we recently assisted Clean Air Cool Planet with setting up carpools and bike storage for their June conference. We got a lot of really infmormative comments from people who attended about why they do/don't carpool, bike, walk or use public transportation.
PATH is all about helping commuters out. We look forward to hearing from you as we constantly try to make it easier for you to get to work and around town!

I carpooled every day in October, except for a couple days when I rode my bike.
Thanks for the great tips on riding through the winter - very helpful!
I have been carpooling to and from the Park N Ride (exit 9 on 89) to Concord Hospital 4 days a week for the past 5 months with 3 other women. We call it our "Free Therapy"!
The offer of the emergency ride only sweetened the ride.
What a great program. My carpool is great. Saves wear and tear on the car, saves money, benefits the environment and I have gotten to know two guys that I would otherwise not get to know.
Local Energy Committee Conference Comments
I think the 'Path' concept is a great one. My party had two people who
were planning to carpool together, and from your notification on the
'Path' system, we did offer two others to ride with us from Exeter, but
got no response from them.
My only suggestion would be to send the carpooling email out a little
earlier. We didn't receive it until two days before the conference. A
little more planning time may have help.
The conference was impressive - as someone new to the area of energy
conservation, I can certainly say I learned a lot!
Great job!
We did carpool from Colebrook/Lancaster. Fortunately we had others who did not carpool, because our driver had to leave abruptly at 1:00 because of a family medical emergyency, and we were able to get rides back to Lancaster. My husband met me in Lancaster ( one hour South of my house) and we took the opportunity to go out to eat at a restaurant we had been trying to get to, but didn't want to spend the gas to do it! So, it worked out well for us.
We did arrive late because of a miscommunication with one of the carpoolers, but enjoyed the company and the ride. We learned that we should get everyone's cellphone number in our cell phones before we do the trip, and that we need to make our communication clear, especially concerning the exact location and time of meeting, and that planning for a "half capacity" in case of emergency, is a good idea.
Thanks for your efforts!
I did carpool with one of my fellow energy committee members. It was just fine.
I work nearly 90 miles from here in Westborough, MA so carpooling is not really an option. No one nearby works there. My work hours aren't typical and I work from home about two days per week on average. It's a carbon-neutral company -- Conservation Services Group (CSG) -- they offset employee's mileage and their general energy usage through carbon credits.
Congratulations on a wildly successful conference!
The two DHR attendees didn’t carpool because it was a shorter distance for each of us to meet at the conference instead of doubling back and forth to carpool. But we are always attentive to the possibility!
Carpool from Ossipee ~ one passenger
Like/Dislike about carpooling ~ Didn't want to stay for the roundtable, passanger did.
The PATH info you sent us was a great help. Four of us carpooled in a Prius from Keene having met there from western MA, Hinsdale, Chesterfield and Marlborough. We would not have been able to do this without your program.
To answer your questions, I wanted to carpool for the company and help finding the conference as well as saving gas and money. It worked out very well; I got to talk to three other people for an hour each way and we shared a lot of information. I don't carpool during the work week because I'm retired, but my husband and I often carpool when we both need to go to Keene.
I enjoyed the conference tremendously and learned a lot.
I have answered your questions below.
Why I didn’t carpool? I learned about the opportunity too late.
If I didn’t, what would have made it easier for me to carpool? More advance notice that carpooling was available.
I am/am not considering carpooling during the work week because… I live close enough to my current job to walk or bicycle.
Our whole 6 carpooled - a 4-some and a 2-some. Your work helped a lot. I don't work so I can't very well carpool to work, can I?? :-) It was great to meet people in my same area of interest.
As an exhibitor I drove down early morning to set up. If I was allowed to set up the night before (I was in Concord) then I could of car pooled from Franconia, thus saving 2 -85 mile trips.
I am/am not considering carpooling during the work week because my work day is variable. I must adapt to requirements as they occur and vary my schedule to support my company. I will bike or walk to work when distance is reasonable (0-15 MILES) as an energy savings instead. Both my arrival and departure times can vary 1-2 hours on a given day.
· Urban mass transit solves this problem if you work and live in this environment.
· Electric/gas generator vehicles lessen the load if you commute longer distances.
· I object to being put in a box and will spend more money or time to do my own thing.
I didn’t carpool due to my remote location and schedule, I wasn’t there throughout the entire conference due to scheduling conflict
I do not car pool during week, since in 25 years of steady employment, I have yet to drive to work. However, should you find some way to convince a company to start running shuttles from outlying areas to airport, that is something I would be very interested in. Central pickup locations around Lakes Region for example.
I had planned to carpool but my ride did not show up on time and in order to be on time I had to drive myself. I held my head in shame as I went back to my car and drove out of the parking lot but my intentions were in the right place.
I did carpool, with another person from Hopkinton. However, it didn't work out all that well, because I had to leave early. He knew that going in to the situation and thought that'd be fine, because it was a long day, but I think when the time came he would have preferred to stay, because we were just getting into the $$ discussion (jack ruderman, etc.) So, long story condensed: If I didn't have a previous commitment, it would have worked well. Bad planning on our part.
Four of us did carpool and had a great time! But we did not go through PATH.
